This week, Sigma Nu at Bradley University is proud to recognize alumnus Robert “Bob” Michel (ZΦ90).
A Bradley graduate and respected public servant, Michel served in the United States House of Representatives for nearly four decades (1957–1995). He became one of the most influential leaders in Congress as House Minority Leader from 1981 to 1995. His legacy extends beyond politics through his reputation for principled leadership, service, and commitment to the country.
Michel’s impact is recognized throughout the Peoria community and at Bradley University. In Peoria, the Bob Michel Bridge carries his name, and on campus, the Robert H. Michel Student Center stands as a lasting tribute to his connection to Bradley and the region.
Sigma Nu Zeta Phi is honored to highlight alumni whose lives represent leadership, service, and long-term impact.
This week, the Zeta Phi Chapter is proud to recognize alumnus Scot Armstrong, Class of 1992. Armstrong is an accomplished American screenwriter, director, and producer whose work includes writing or co-writing notable comedy films such as Old School, Road Trip, Semi-Pro, The Hangover Part ll and more. His career reflects the excellence and legacy of the Zeta Phi Chapter, and we are proud to recognize his accomplishments.
Fun fact: The snake featured in Road Trip was named Mitch, after the house snake Sigma Nu had during the 1990s.

The brothers of Sigma Nu spent the day volunteering by completing yard work, cleaning toys, organizing indoor spaces, and helping with projects around the facility.
It was a great opportunity for Zeta Phi Chapter to see firsthand the impact our philanthropy has made and continue supporting an organization that means so much to our chapter.

Greek Week 2026
During the final week of February, the Zeta Phi Chapter reflects on its origins. Sigma Nu at Bradley University traces its beginnings to 1898, when nine students founded the local fraternity Alpha Pi, the first fraternity on the Bradley campus. As the earliest fraternity established at Bradley, Alpha Pi laid the foundation for the university’s fraternity system, giving the chapter roots deeper than any other fraternity on campus. Its members helped shape early student life through leadership in academics, athletics, and campus organizations. After more than five decades as a local fraternity, Alpha Pi formally affiliated with the national fraternity Sigma Nu in 1955, becoming the Zeta Phi Chapter. Today, Sigma Nu at Bradley University carries forward a legacy of over 125 years of brotherhood, leadership, and service.
The Sigma Nu Fraternity at Bradley University is honored to be recognized among this year’s top organizations and leaders. We are proud to be named the #1 Student Organization of the Year (2025–2026), a testament to the dedication, leadership, and values upheld by our chapter. We also congratulate Logan Vargas on receiving the Chapter President of the Year (Interfraternity Council) award, as well as the Dr. Domenico Volturno & Betty Volturno Distinguished Service Award. These recognitions reflect the strength of our brotherhood and our continued commitment to excellence on campus and in the community. #snu #rollsnakes #1 #bradleyuniversity

The leadership opportunities that I’ve earned through my brothers’ supporting me, mentoring me, and encouraging me have pushed me forward in many ways that are truly hard to put into words. Ultimately, I am extremely thankful for Sigma Nu, all of my brothers, and all of the connections that I’ve made through the FSL community. I would not be in the same position today without it.”

March’s brother of the month is Tyler Hagenauer! Tyler has served as Recorder and House Manager during his time at Sigma Nu. When asked what Sigma Nu means to him, he replied, “Sigma Nu has given me endless moments that have shaped me into who I am today. From the countless shared memories to the lifelong friendships with people who I can trust long after graduation, this brotherhood has shown me the true meaning of compassion and encouragement. The lessons and values I’ve learned here will stay with me for the rest of my life.” Thank you Tyler for your contributions to Sigma Nu throughout the years!
This was a city-wide effort called ‘Rebuilding Peoria’. It was scheduled the same day as the great American cleanup. Folks worked all over the community to help clean up, repair, landscape and help elderly community members get ready for spring. Sigma Nus, Joshua Delos Reyes and Miguel Smith attended with others in their Leadership class for a chance to give back to the community.
